Auction Update - Your Help Needed!!

Hello Howard Street Families.  We are "Strollen" along with your HOP Auction.  Here is an update and wish list.
We are still receiving great silent auction donation items.  Auction Queen Stacey Lindsay will be at Howard Street on the following dates to receive donation items - April 27/28, and May 3/4 after school in the parking lot at 3:15.  The 4Th is the last day to get your donation items in and as always thanks for your great efforts in doing this.

Remember also to collect for the student baskets for the auction and turn those in to Stacey.  Please do not have your students bring wine donations into school.  Parents please deliver them directly to Stacey or contact at stacelynne (a) comcast.net.

6th grade - Garden/Home Decor Items
7th grade - Chocolate/Wine - (Parents to deliver wine to Stacey)
8th grade - Bath/Beauty/Gift Cards

Where are the Beaver and Duck fans?  Let's see what team will have the best auction basket.  Erik Davis has donated two tickets for a Beaver Football game (with tears in his eyes.)  Get your team spirit going and let's see if we can get two great team baskets for the auction.

Auction needs still -

We are in need of 50'S decorations/items to "HOP" up the place.  If you have anything, LP'S, Pink Poodles and Fuzzy Dice, CocaCola Bottes or Glasses we need them for table centerpieces (about 10 tables) and general decor.  Please contact Laura Davis or Teresa Maurmann if you can help with this.

Also,  we need a sound system for the silent auction.  I'm hoping for a cordless mic/speaker with an ability to play music for the front of Illahe during the silent auction.  If you can help with this please contact Laura Davis.

Look for your HOP Invitation  "Boppin"  in the mail soon,  track more auction updates on the FaceBook page, and as always thanks for supporting your students.

Letter to Parents, Friends and Colleagues of Howard Street Charter School

It’s that time of year again when we call upon all parents, past, present and future of Howard Street Charter School, (HSCS) to help support the Howard Street Charter School Foundations’ (HSCSF) only major fundraiser being held on May 13, 2011 at Illahe Hills Country Club in Salem, Oregon.

This is an important year for fundraising as we are expecting a decrease in 2011/2012 monies in the budget alloted to HSCS from the Salem-Keizer School District. As a charter school, HSCS does not receive the same percentages typically given to non-charter schools and we must make up at least 20% of the budget by our own fundraising efforts.  This is where the Foundation steps in and ultimately, you the parent and past supporter also get to make a difference for our teachers and students at HSCS.

You can expect a “FUN-FILLED” evening! Get out your dancing shoes, skirts and leather! Because we are all going to “The Hop” Yes, you can count on an evening of fun, laughter and dancing. Our theme is “Date Night Out at The Hop”.We will have a DJ playing our favorite 50’s music, along with food, spirits and laughter as we compete to see who can do The Twist!

But more importantly, we will be fundraising for our beloved teachers at HSCS so they can continue to teach our children the three E’s with all the resources they need.  The following is how you can support these efforts:

      1.   Please pick up an item or items for the silent auction and leave them at the school office to be picked by a committee member.  Each grade will have a theme:
  • Sixth grade: Gardening/Home Decor
  • Seventh grade Chocolate/Wine/Treats
  • Eighth grade: Bath/Beauty/Gift Cards

If you are a business please consider advertising using your business card or logo on our event programs or on a reusable canvas bag that will be available at “The Hop” for purchase. Cost will be $100.00 and we will provide a receipt to show business expense.  Please contact Teresa Maurmann at arianasmom (at) hotmail (dot) com if this is of interest to you.

Please consider a donation to the HSCS Foundation. If all families would donate $100.00 we would be well on our way to supplementing the budget shortfall. An envelope is provided for your convenience.

Finally, PLEASE plan to attend our fundraiser! IT WILL BE FUN, GUARANTEED. We look forward to seeing you at “The Hop”.

Thank you in advance,

Teresa Maurmann
