About the Foundation

The Salem/Keizer Schools' budget does not fund all of Howard Street Charter School's needs. These needs include funding for field trips, choir, orchestra and band trips, and additional needed classroom equipment and supplies (from tuba cases to computer memory). In an average year, the Foundation funds approximately $15,000 for these needs. In 2010, the Foundation funded an additional amount of approximately $25,000 to help create the now open Bryan Johnston multi-purpose room or "B-2". With additional budget cuts on the horizon, the Foundation has been asked to try to raise an additional $20,000 on top of the average amount per year of $15,000 for the upcoming 2011/2012 school year.

Funding to the Foundation comes through our primary annual auction fundraiser. It also comes through donation requests of current and past parents of Howard Street students. We will be asking for your help in the coming months.
